Yams are a natural product, grown in abundance in India, Africa and Malaysia. This plant is a vines, it has many tubers, and is classified as a healthy food.
In Viet Nam, yam is easy to grow and has high yield in hot weather, lots of water, often during the dry season in the South, so it is mainly exploited in rural areas such as: Long An, Can Tho, Dong Thap Muoi and provinces in the southwestern region.
Yam has 2 types: white intestine and purple intestine. White intestine belongs to Mong Linh variety, heavy-weight tubers (4-5kg/bulb), high yield. Purple intestines have purple and purple cotton wipes, which is smooth, long; although the bulb is smaller than white but delicious, and is popular in the market.
Yams are rich in manganese, calcium, vitamins A, B, choline … Yams also contain many antioxidants, vitamins (C, B6), fiber, manganese and calories so it is very good for heart, digestion, blood pressure, and your bones.
