Ambarella or June Plum is a delicious fruit native to Melanesia and Polynesia but highly popular in Southeast Asia. Ambarella tree generally grows up to 9-20m and produces oval-shaped fruit 6-9cm long. Ambarella is one of the few fruits which is delicious in both ripe and unripe form. The fruit is rich in calcium, phosphorus, vitamin C and carotenes and used for treating Diabetes mellitus, urinary tract infections, dysentery, ear infections, burning sensations and endometritis in ayurvedic medicine.
