Mangosteen is native to Southeast Asia because it is only suitable living in tropical environment, famous for its sweetness, delicate texture and sweet and sour taste.
Mangosteen has a straight trunk and is symmetrically branched to form a regular pyramidal crown. All parts of plant exude yellow latex when damaged. Fruit are globose, smooth, turning dark purple when ripe, with persistent sepals and still crowned by the stigma lobes. The aril or flesh of mangosteen is considered to be the best tasting fruit of all, by some people. So, in Southeast Asia, people call it Queen of fruits.
